Generation X Traits and Comparison with Angel Przybylski

Every new generation brings something new to the table. Maybe a new norm, a new habit, or a new way of doing things.  When you look into your previous generations or the generation that is next to you. You’ll find a lot of differences in traits, cultures, or even norms. So, was the case with Generation X.

In my personal opinion, these norms are the things that define the way we navigate our lives, it’s something that shapes our personality, traits, norms, etc. Talking about these traits, I think we Gen X people are not old boring people. There are a lot of traits that define us and let you know how cool we are.

You can still find some of these traits in the generation as well but some are now non-existent. So, let’s take you down memory lane and check what you can relate to and what you cannot.

I am pretty sure, Generation X can relate to a lot that I will share.  I know this is not a real-estate-related blog but what’s the fun in talking business all the time? So, how about taking a trip down memory lane with me?

I will have my answers in this blog. You can leave yours in the comments down below so we can have fun comparing the generations.

When did you start Cooking?

To begin with, let’s start with something simple. Cooking is a skill that we all might possess in some way or another.

Maybe some of you can only boil an egg, maybe you are a Michelin star chef, who knows, or maybe you are really rich and have never touched a raw ingredient because you have a cook.

Anyway, whoever you are, if you cooked in your life you must have started somewhere.

For our generation, I can say most of us started cooking at a very young age. I started cooking at the age of 5-6 years. So, what’s yours? Can you relate to this?

When did you Babysit for the First Time?

Babysitting is something that all young ones in our generations did but obviously, every generation has their own set of babies to deal with so this is something that only offers minor generational differences.

In our generation, babysitting was sometimes a profession for us as young ones to earn some money or sometimes it was for free. Whatever the case was, I am pretty sure most of you have been through a babysitting experience.

So, the question is, when did you first start? In this comparison, I want to analyze the differences between different generations. I personally started babysitting at the age of 8, I don’t know about others but most people I know did it at the same age range as me. So, how about you?

Did you Ever Walk anywhere Alone as a Child?

Most children nowadays seem more confident than previous generations or maybe this is just my personal opinion.

Anyway, talking about me personally, when I was a child, I never took a stroll outside or anywhere without any adult present. Maybe it was just me but most of my friends, and neighbors were the same.

Maybe it was just my neighborhood, Share your experience. Did you ever walk anywhere alone as a child? What about the new generation?

First Time using a Firearm?

Firearms are more common in America than in some other countries and because of that, it’s quite possible that you might have used a firearm in your life.

I don’t know about the new generation or even my own generation in this regard but I myself used a firearm for the first time at a very young age.

I was only 10 years old when I first used a firearm. So, what about you, have you ever used a firearm in your life? If yes, when was the first time you used it?

No of Fist Fights?

Have you ever been in a fistfight when you were young? Well, if you haven’t it’s great! I have never been in a fistfight, but I did see many fistfights in my younger years.

So, what is your score in fighting with your fist? To me, zero is the best number in this as well because fighting itself is not healthy for physical and mental health.

Anyway, how many fistfights did you get into? When was your first fistfight? Do you still get into fistfights? Let me know in the comments below.

Caring About Other People’s Opinions?

Opinions, suggestions, and guidance are something that everyone is constantly faced with from a young age to an adult life and even still I come across different opinions, suggestions, etc.

However, when talking about opinions, I didn’t care much about other people’s opinions in my younger years. Even now, I don’t care much, however, I do believe in suggestions and guidance and always welcome feedback in my life and adjust accordingly.

So, what about you, did you care about other people’s opinions when you were young? What about now?

I personally don’t ask for help much but still believe that asking for help makes your life easier. What about you?

People from my generation can understand that life without the internet and cell phones was all about playing outdoor games as a child. No doubt it was a beautiful era.

I believe all Gen Xers have experienced this. I loved playing outside of my house and making friends from the neighborhood.

However, it is not the same anymore because children from today’s generation have cell phones and the internet to play with. So, let me know how often you played outside of your house when you were a child.

But let me know about you. Comment your age with your experience of being coddled so that we can make a comparison about this generation gap.
