 There is always something going on in Bakersfield, there is always a lot to do for everyone but the holiday season brings along its unique charm and activities. So, this things to do in the Bakersfield article is unique as well. 

The lively Bakersfield is further brightened in this holiday season with Christmas. With long events, constant activities, and a lot of fun, what more can one desire?

So, let’s get you through all the activities that you can do in December. The list this time is vast, and I am sure it will be hard for many of you to choose between the activities but that’s also part of the fun. Bakersfield Christmas Town @ Kern County Fairgrounds

Bakersfield Christmas Town is the place to be when it comes to celebrating Christmas. This is built like an actual town with a lot of activities

You can enjoy spectacular lighting, a hayride, a skating rink, a cozy cottage with Santa Claus, and much more here. 

It’s perfect for kids and adults and the tickets are up for grabs for 20$ on nonpeak days for all and on peak days 25$ for kids/seniors and 30$ for adults.

So, head over to the Kern County FairGround between Nov 24, 2023, to December 31, 2023, and enjoy. Yes! It’s open throughout December. Get more details/online tickets on their website.

Cirque Musical Holiday Wonderland @ Bakersfield Fox Theater

Want to get an adrenaline rush this holiday season? It’s the perfect place for you, The Cirque musical holiday wonderland will bring a circus experience you’ll not forget. 

It’s happening on 6 December 2023 at 7:00 PM at Bakersfield Fox Theater with the ticket being sold at between $36 to $70.

So, turn your wheels towards Bakersfield Fox Theater and enjoy the acrobats, aerialists, and much more. 

41st Bakersfield Christmas Parade @ Downtown Bakersfield

Parades are fun to watch, a coordinated parade is always fun with music, decorated cars, and much more. Enjoy the start of the Christmas season at Downtown Bakersfield.

To watch the parade, all you need to do is show up on 7th December between 6-8 PM and enjoy the amazing parade.

There are no tickets or anything it’s free to watch. 

NOR Christmas Parade @ North Chester Ave

Yet another Christmas parade is happening at North Chester Avenue on 9th December in the Morning.

Unlike the previous parade, this one is for the early birds and can be watched at 10:00 AM.

Also, it goes without saying that the parade is free to watch! 

The Bakersfield Christmas Market @ 4350 California Avenue

Another fun thing to do in Bakersfield is the Christmas Market. You get greeted with amazing lighting, treats, spices, etc.

Walk through the market and enjoy the vibrant Christmas lights, garlands, twinkles, and much more with local vendors offering a lot in the area as well from gifts to food, it’s truly a heaven for all.

From December 8 to 24 daily from 11:00 Am to 8:00 PM, you can show your presence at this European-style market. 

Jose Feliciano @ Bakersfield Fox Theater

For all the music lovers out there, the good old Jose Feliciano is back again at the Fox Theater performing his songs this Christmas month.

So, get vibing and make your way towards the Fox Theater on 8 December at around 6:00 PM. The concert will last till 9:00 PM.

The tickets are up for grabs on AXS.com at the price of $55 to $71. 

Ugly Christmas Sweater Wine Tasting @ Wine Me Up

The name of the event sums up what it’s about. For some reason, the organizer wants you to wear the most ugly Christmas sweater.

So, if you have one, try to wear the most ugly one so you can win the contest and win free wine!

You can get the tickets for this event on Eventbrite for around 20$. It will take place at Wine Me Up on 14 December 2023 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet @ Bakersfield Fox Theater

Fan of Ballet? Especially of European classic ballet? Then this is the place for you. Get a glimpse of more than just ballet with amazing acrobats.

The custom-handmade sets will wow your eyes and the Christmas performances will put you in awe. 

The event is happening on 16th December from 2 PM to 7 PM and tickets are priced at $30 to $175 at AXS.com

Children’s Holiday Afternoon with Santa @ The Kern County Museum

If you have kids, this is the place to be for a good time. Take a nostalgic trip with your kids through the Polar Express movie.

Not only your kids can enjoy the movie, but they can also take a picture with Santa and enjoy cookies from the trolley room cookies. 

The time and date to take your kids here is 1:00 PM on 16 December. The tickets are just $10-$12. 

Candlelight Holiday Special, Music of the Nutcracker & More @ CSUB

Yet another musical event for those who love the sound of beautiful rhythms. This time it’s the music of the Nutcracker.

 You can grab the tickets from feverup.com before arriving. The event is happening at The Doré Theatre at California State University, Bakersfield. 

So get groovy within this musical night on 16th December between 4:30 PM and 7 PM. The tickets are up for grabs at $25-$40.

The Beach Boys Christmas Tribute – The Surf City All Stars @ Bakersfield Music Hall of Fame

Who can forget the Beach Boys, the Surf City All Stars are giving a Christmas tribute to the Beach Boys at Bakersfield Music Hall of Fame.

This is another amazing musical event that can get you dancing. Fun fact about the Surf City All-Stars. Every member of this band toured with the Beach Boys band. So, I am sure that will make it more authentic.

Tickets can be purchased at the price of $40-$45 from the bakersfieldmusicalhalloffame.com website. The event is happening at 7:00 PM on December 16.

Home for the Holidays @ West Kern Oil Museum (Taft)

This is another event on the list which will make it to the top of your bucket list. Enjoy a family fun weekend with your kids on 15-16 December with a lot of activities.

Take pictures with Santa, participate in the tree decoration contest, take photos with the Grinch, and much more. 

The tickets are also cheap, costing at around just $5 per person and the children that are younger than 5 years can enter for free. So, it’s fun for everyone!

Cults & Classics: Holiday Inn @ Bakersfield Fox Theater

Those of you who are fans of the classic movies are in for a treat with this one. Witness the amazing music and romance in the movie Holiday Inn from 1954 at the Bakersfield Fox Theater.

The movie will be shown on December 18th from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, The tickets can be purchased at $5 and are available at AXS.com.

Reflections Painting @ Cork and Strokes

Straight No Chaser @ Bakersfield Fox Theater

Not a fan of instruments much? How about a cappella? Well, who doesn’t love to see rhythmic music from the instruments but when it’s coming out of humans it’s more interesting.

Enjoy the performance of the famous straight no-chaser a cappella band and get your groove on.

The Soda Crackers  @ Rooster’s Honky Tonk

The tickets can be purchased at the door for $5 and the event will be happening on 30th December between 8-11 PM

New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball 2023 @ Elements Venue

The ball is the perfect opportunity for you love birds to enjoy dancing together If you are alone general entry is also possible after 9 pm while couples can enter at 6 PM with Advance Couplas  Dinner as well served in the buffet.

So it’s time to get your costumes out and buy the tickets from Eventbrite costing between $30 for an advance dance ticket to $150 for an advance couple dance/dinner. The event will take place at Elements venue from 6 PM to 1 AM on 31 December.
