A Day Trip to Bakersfield Downtown

Fun experiences are relaxing and everybody’s mind and body need some relaxation at some point in time.

Downtown Bakersfield offers such a fun and relaxing environment every second Saturday of the month to give the natives exciting experiences related to business opportunities and community get-togethers.

This gives the natives and visitors a great opportunity to spend an exciting weekend with their friends and families.

The Second Saturday brings a lot of fun things including arts, yummy eateries, shopping, and many more. Especially, this Second Saturday brings something for everyone to enjoy with their loved ones and spend some quality time together.

A well-known place for dine-in Cafe Smitten in Downtown, Bakersfield is famous for its delicious breakfast, coffee, and fantastic craft cocktails.

Our trip to Bakersfield included this place. We visited on the second Saturday to have a delicious experience there. The ambiance was quite a vibe with speak-easy vibes. The cafe offers brunch on weekends and their food is pretty good too.

One of my friends works in Cafe Smitten and she told me that the place is really fun on the second Saturday, the vendors come out in front of the Cafe to put up their stalls. People visit with their dogs to have some cappuccinos.

What’s for Kids?

Like every other person, kids can also have fun in Downtown, Bakersfield on Second Saturday.

As already mentioned the Second Saturday brings something for people of all ages, a media teacher comes there to do fun activities like singing and dancing with children.

The whole vibe of the Second Saturday is fun for all groups of ages.

What do People say about the Place?

We interviewed a couple at Cafe Smitten. They were also visiting the place on Second Saturday and have been Bakersfield natives since 2018. Although the girl was from Atlanta, Georgia she had a great experience living in Bakersfield along with her family.

They were visiting with their little kids and loved the vibe of the Second Saturday.

Location of Cafe Smitten

If you plan to visit Cafe Smitten, there are two locations for it. Downtown’s Cafe Smitten is the only one that offers the second Saturday while the other one is located to the west in the Grand Island Village.

If you come to Bakersfield or live in Bakersfield, this cafe is a must for you to visit. A great cafe with nice vibes is your go-to place in Bakersfield for hanging out with friends and family.

After visiting our first spot at Cafe Smitten for the day out, we head to the next place. While driving we saw many other places apart from Cafe Smitten, to hang out. There was this hall named ‘The Collective’ which is the name of a place for modern events located in the heart of Downtown, Bakersfield with a beautiful interior.

In front of ‘The Collective’, there was a wine spot named Killer Poke. Some of the restaurants and The Emporium Western store were also located on the same street.

There were a lot of options to visit, including shopping and eateries including museums, art galleries, bars, restaurants, Fox theatre, and shops in Downtown, Bakersfield.

The next place we visited was Farmers Market where one of the best antique malls is located in Downtown, Bakersfield. This is also part of the Second Saturday where people from Westchester, Riviera, and East Side can come here to visit as well.

Various vendors in the market put up their stalls and shops for selling different sorts of things.

I was visiting the place with my native Downtown friend and she did some handbag shopping at the market as well. She got a nice vintage bag with multiple compartments for $30 which you also can see in the video tagged below.

One of the great places in Downtown, Bakersfield is “Locale Farm to Table” where you can dine in, enjoy live music, and also they provide catering services for events.

They also provide takeaway services so we got our lunch from there and headed to our next destination which was Campo, the best wine spot in Downtown. There we spent the evening and enjoyed our lunch with a drink.
